Just Exceptional! Our trip to EBC was magical. From planning, communicating, and delivering on the experience, Ian Taylor Trekking was first class. Laura was fantastic throughout the entire process. The most important parts of the experience while there are safety, food, lodging and quality guides. They shined in every category. Shout out to our amazing guides Pasang and Mingma, they will be requested on our future return to Nepal! There are so many companies out there offering trekking excursions and we highly recommend going with a proven and consistent company like Ian Taylor Trekking. NAMASTE!

I have just returned (March 2026) from hiking both the Lares and Classic Inca Trails in Peru with Ian Taylor Trekking. The whole experience from start to finish was exceptional. Throughout the preparation process all communication was timely and clear. On the ground, the local Peruvian Team were tremendously well organised and efficient, as well as being a genuine pleasure to be with. The hotel in Cusco (the Novotel) was simply brilliant and the quality of transport, accommodation and food throughout both treks was second to none. Special mention should go to the guides on both treks, Miguel on Lares and Percy and Jhersson on the Inca Trail, and to the cook on both treks, Oranato. Peru itself is an exceptional location for hiking, but the Ian Taylor team made it a very special experience. I cannot recommend Ian Taylor Trekking for hiking in Peru highly enough.

Fantastic experience. Percy and Jherson were great guides with lots of knowledge to share on the history of the Inca trail and culture of the Inca. Food was fantastic! Porters are always the hardest working staff. Rain or not, would do it again with Ian Taylor Trekking!

I have taken two trips to Ecuador through Ian Taylor Trekking. The first was a 9 day Cotopaxi and I just got back from a private 7 day Cayambe trip. Both trips were perfectly planned with acclimatization, training, and rest all considered to give me the best chances of success in the big mountains. The accommodations were beautiful and every detail planned so I could focus on the experience. Ian Taylor Trekking will be my first choice for any future mountaineering trip I consider!

I climbed Cotopaxi recently with Ian Taylor Trekking and the organisation of the trip was well managed throughout the trip, with plenty of flexibility, good acclimatisation program and comfortable, high quality accomodation.

Ian Taylor Trekking is your perfect partner should you want to muscle your way up to EBC….and back again. After Machu Picchu and Kilimanjaro, this EBC trek was my third adventure with Ian & Laura, and by far the toughest one. Imagine walking up steep irregular stairs for two hours plus at high altitude and “breathing through a straw” as Jon Krakauer so eloquently states. Good news is that Ian and his wife Laura provide ample advice to plan your training as physical fitness is an absolute must for this adventure. Wise, frugal and precise packing is not to be overlooked. Here again the entire Ian Taylor team is ready for rescue, inclusive of in-person phone calls, videos and long tested packing lists. In addition, they offer a variety of rental equipment, avoiding your unnecessary schlepping and/or purchases. During each of my three treks, I was the senior of the group, 71 for the EBC. Here again I felt privileged to be the first in line, just behind the wonderful Passang Sherpa. Following him step-by-step, he was more than happy to share insights on EBC history, the breathtaking vistas, and of course his experiences - a walking encyclopedia. Throughout, other sherpas and guides joined in, caring for endless details to enhance comfort and ensure safety. Thanks to Ian Taylor and his entire team, our trek was a great success - a memorable experience. Most importantly, I recommend that you choose a reliable and trustworthy team with dependable local representatives and infrastructure. Unforeseen circumstances may occur; therefore you will want your support team to be ready for you at all times. Ian Taylor Trekking will have your back. If you are just starting your search for a trekking company or have been reviewing other companies you can stop here! In our opinion this is a top rated company. My husband and I just completed our trek at the end of November 2025. We did the trek to EBC with the owners Ian and Laura Taylor. We had been exploring all the options with different trekking companies for one year before we decided on Ian Taylor Trekking. I knew the minute I called I found the perfect fit for us!! Why? It’s not often you call a company and actually talk with the owners. This does not imply they are a small company by any means! When you do call for questions it can be Ian, Laura or Erin you speak with. It’s a family run business and from what I experienced and saw on their website they employ only local people. In addition to employing locals they also give back too many of the local communities. Just check on their website. Our greatest concern for the trek was could we complete it, what would it take for us not to fail and where/how do we start to train. Ian helped guide us on how we should start the training and what we should be doing six months before our trek. He gave us so much confidence and encouragement assuring us that we could do this. On their website they have many videos you can watch and learn from for all aspects of the trek! He encouraged daily treks, stretching exercises, he talked about high altitude and its effects on the body so his motto was “Slow and Steady”! Ian had also stated that he does the EBC trek once a year in November and lucky for us they had two openings available! The age group was 27-70 years old! This group consisted of very experienced trekkers and with the help of Ian Taylor Trekking we were able to make our once in a life time dream come true!!! An amazing experience we had and it’s all because we picked the perfect company for us.

I would like to sincerely thank Ian for being such an inspiration to my 5th grade students as they interviewed him! I reached out to Ian Taylor Trekking via the website explaining that I am a teacher in Arizona with students who are composing an argumentative essay about whether people should or should not attempt to summit Mt. Everest. Students had been researching and gathering information from printed sources, which is pretty much par for the course. When I asked if someone could answer some of the questions the students had, Ian responded the same day and offered to have a video call with the class! We were beyond excited to have the opportunity to interview an expert mountaineer! During the call, Ian was engaging and motivating; his responses to their (many!) questions were informative and encouraging. One of my favorite things I heard from a student afterward was their interpretation of Ian’s message: “Set goals, work hard, and you can accomplish anything.” Another came away saying, “Life is a journey and the journey is the adventure! You get to choose your adventure!” Ian has a way of turning even the smallest responses into messages of courage, ambition and capability. While we may not have completed a physical expedition with Ian, he has inspired us to live life with purpose! The experience he gave us was absolutely amazing!

Cotopaxi Nov 1-13 2025 w / Ian Taylor trekking Solo traveler , had an amazing experience start to finish. Airport pickup and drop off. The food, accommodations, the guides , the itinerary the landscape. Everything was incredible. It feels good to do “hard things” and due to inclimate weather conditions and low visibility the summit views were not anything we were hoping for…. But we did it :) and I’m so thankful for the version of Cotopaxi summit day I got to experience. Recovery in Baños and the hot springs the day after was brilliant planning. And I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ian Taylor trekking to others. I’d love to have another adventure through them down the road. Thanks so much Love and gratitude, Mn Josh

Under sold and over delivered, the Ian Taylor Trekking team were incredible in their preparation, expertise, and excitement on our trip. I had the pleasure of climbing Lobuche East with some friends, and the quality of service from Ian and the team was astounding. It allowed me to focus on getting to the climb in the best shape possible, but also invited me to truly take in my surroundings and apprciate the spectacle that is the Khumbu Valley. I gained some highly coveted skills, unforgettable stories, and new life-long friends on this journey. Looking forward to the next!

Fun trip if you want to take it slow. I wouldn’t recommend this if you have experience or a high level of fitness.

I went on a 6 day African Safari in Tanzania in October 2025. We went to Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater Conservancy Area, and Serengeti National Park. It was an incredible experience. We saw the big five animals (Lions, Leopard, Elephants, Rhinos, African Buffalo) and more (Hippos, Cheetahs, Wildebeest, Zebras, Giraffes, Topi, Elands, Gazelles, Hyenas, Crocodiles, and on and on. We got to see the migration of the Wildebeest - crossing the Mara River. We saw beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The highlight was a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti. The "rock 'n roll" landing was one of the most exciting experiences. The Ian Taylor Trekking staff (Athumani and Edwin) were the best. Whatever we wanted to see, they seemed to bring our wishes to life. Very knowledgeable and a delight to share our experiences with. I would highly recommend using Ian Taylor Trekking for this adventure and other adventures they provide. It was truly a trip of a lifetime!!!

I had one of the most memorable experiences of my life trekking with Ian Taylor Trekking to the Anapurna Base Camp. Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish, beginning with the smooth pickup and the incredibly warm welcome in Kathmandu. Kay and Dawa greeted me with such kindness and openness that I immediately felt at home. Kay even took me on a sightseeing trip, where I learned so much about Nepalese culture, history, and heritage — an experience that added so much depth to the journey. During the trek itself, Ang Kami and Ang Kasi accompanied me, and I could not have wished for better guides. They were thoughtful, attentive, and always made sure I felt safe and well cared for. With the perfect balance of engaging stories and peaceful silence, they respected my pace and ensured the trek felt natural and enjoyable every single day. We were incredibly lucky with the weather and met so many wonderful people along the way, which made the experience even more special. The entire trek was flawlessly organized, and every detail was handled with professionalism and heart. I left Nepal with a very full heart and deep gratitude. A big thank you to the entire team in Kathmandu and everyone who made this journey so special. I cannot recommend Ian Taylor Trekking highly enough.

I had an excellent experience on the Everest Base Camp trek ("Sleeping at EBC" itinerary). Ian Taylor Trekking expertly managed logistics from start to finish, and lead guide Pasang Lama and assistant guides Kaji and Mingma kept us safe, motivated, and entertained throughout. While the trek is a bit challenging, it's well within reach of most people with a bit of preparation and a desire to see some of the most beautiful scenery earth has to offer.
