Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had to replace contact wheels on my grinder. It was easy to find the replacement parts online. The ordering process was easy. The wait time was average, I didn't feel like I waited for too long. In all it was a good experience.

My oldest is a 1x42" sander that has been put through the ringer since the mid 90's and it just keeps rolling. I use it every single day for my sharpening business and it just won't quit! I dig it so much I recently bought a brand new one just to have and the new ones are every bit as solid and all parts are the same. To me that is a huge plus! If I need a part, it's available.... forever!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have a 1" x 42" Kalamazoo belt sander. I don't write reviews typically but this is different. This little grinder gets review comments like, "as basic as it gets" or "no bells and whistles." One person stated negatively that it was "underwhelming." I think the engineer who developed this machine is genius. Simple is my Kalamazoo's greatest attribute. It is safe, forgiving and efficient. It's small footprint makes it pleasure to own and operate. Stunning build supported by the best-ever customer service. Good job Kalamazoo. Made here....in Michigan...where industry was invented.

They do not service the public and will treat you like you are a major irritation for simply calling them on their publicly listed telephone number from their own website to attempt to buy an expensive piece of equipment that they make and sell. Zero stars for non-existent and disrespectful customer service. Two stars because their products are said to be very reliable.
Edit: I upgraded this review to four stars because the owner responded quickly and showed great concern for wanting to correct an employees mistake. That is exactly what an owner of a company should do and it says more about Kalamazoo Industries than an employee who may have been having a bad day. Thanks.

I have three tools by Kalamazoo now, the 1SM 1x42 belt sander, the DS10 10in disk sander, and the 2FSM 2x48 belt sander. All three have seen a fair bit of use in my shop, especially the 1SM that is my primary sharpening machine for everything from pocket knives to mower blades running abrasive and leather belts as needed. The DS10 does a tremendous amount of work in my wood shop, it's more or less permanently mounted with a 60-grit disk and used for rough shaping of everything with an exterior curve. Man, hook up the dust extractor, though, or that thing will *fill* the shop with dust.
The 2x48 doesn't get quite as much use as the others, but when I have had need of its higher speed material removal, it's done exceedingly well. I'm not quite as enthused with its belt guard as I am with the 1SM's, it's a lot more time consuming for belt changes, but it does offer significantly better protection from the moving belt if that is a concern.
I've only had one minor problem, a harmonic vibration that developed in the DS10 after a few hours of use, that they walked me through troubleshooting, and turned out to be simply the guard being in an ideal location to resonate with the sander body. The design of the tools is extremely simple, you can literally break them down and re-assemble them with just a couple wrenches and the simplest of mechanical aptitude. If you can change a spark plug, you can break down and re-assemble one of these machines.
Overall, I couldn't be happier with them, and built like they are with those Baldor motors, they're going to run for a very, very long time. I'm currently looking at perhaps an abrasive cutoff saw next... haven't quite decided. But I *will* be purchasing from them again.
