This be the place! Ellie has created a website that is well thought out, accessible and full of learning. I can visit all the grammar that makes me crazy but also read and hear about French culture. It's definitely not a static site, it's organic and energetic.

Learning French in your 60's is a… Learning French in your 60's is a challenge. Ellie Louise, The French Room, makes it comfortable and welcoming. Ellie meets you where you are at and encourages you along the way. I'm learning not just the french language but why the language is the way it is and sometimes it's an unknown. And, that's what makes it intriguing. I love puzzles and this is a puzzle that is fascinating and exciting to learn. Ellie really makes it an curious journey. Merci!

Great teacher and learning resources Ellie is an excellent, engaging and encouraging teacher with a lot of experience and a passion for French. The combination of a live class plus access to alot of resources via Bonjour Brilliance, allowing for study in your own time at your own pace is ideal for me.

Learn to be confident and relaxed learning french The french room is a great way to learn ir improve ypur french. Ellie teaches in a style that is knowledge building as well as supportive. The experience has been life changing for my french and my confidence in using it. Would highly recommend The French Room.

An excellent French teacher I've been doing 1:1 French lessons with Ellie for a few months now and have made noticeable improvements within this time. My understanding of grammar and sentence structures has definitely improved, but one of the most noticeable improvements for me has been my pronunciation. Ellie has also pushed me to have conversations or explain things in French which has really boosted my confidence. One stand-out thing for me was a recent trip to Nice; Ellie helped me to prepare by teaching me phrases I could use in various situations, but also by teaching me phrases or words I would be likely to hear a lot from locals. These definitely came to fruition during my trip!

Great teacher I really enjoy the sessions with Ellie. She is so patient, is expert at putting me at ease and pushes me without ever making the session feel uncomfortable. She’s thoughtful and flexible in her approach to teaching and is interesting to talk to on a wide range of topics.

After many failed attempts to learn… After many failed attempts to learn French, I have found a learning model which really suits and really works. For me, this is the recorded tutos and the live group classes. Ellie's recorded tutos, which you can dip into as frequently as you want, are excellent, and the live classes are a great environment to practise your french speaking in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Ellie is really responsive and supportive right from the start of your french learning journey. I am 8 months in now and I feel like I have made a lot of progress. What works for me is the flexibility because I am time poor. If I need to duck out of the live class one week there's no issue, I can come back the next week and pick up where I left off. And I can keep the momentum building all the time by watching the short tutos on a regular basis. Highly recommended.

How Ellie's lessons have improved my confidence I recently travelled for a holiday in Chamonix and felt much more confident speaking French on this trip than previously. This was down to Ellie having helped with my speaking skills and teaching me useful phrases which I could use, which helped me engage with people and they seemed happier to let me have a go at a conversation. Following advice from Ellie in a tuto, I even stopped my partner from ordering a well cooked steak so as to not upset the chef!!!! I find Ellie's teaching methods work for me in improving my confidence.
