My wife and I and other family stayed 5 days here . Everyone loved this camping location and is probably one of the best campgrounds I've ever stayed at. We really enjoyed The bike, hiking trail that runs in front of the campground. The campground is centrally located to several area attractions . Would highly recommend this campground to anyone staying in the area

We've stayed here twice and not only is it the best campground in SD, but it's one of the best campgrounds I've ever been to. Huge spaces, clean, quiet, wonderful. Full review at my blog - https://www.theroadwechose.com/post/best-campground-in-the-black-hills-of-south-dakota

This campground is spacious with plenty of room between sites. It is perfectly located in the Black Hills. Close to Mount Rushmore, Needles Highway, Sylvan Lake, Crazy Horse, Hill City, and Custer. This is a well maintained resort with pool and hot tub, playground, and nice store. We will definitely stay here again.

This place is incredible! We have stayed at RV parks all over the country and this is number one in our books. They have a beautiful and convenient location. We loved just spending time at the campground and the pancake breakfast was a big hit with the kids! If you are looking for a place to stay in the black hills you can't do better than this!

One of the nicest private campgrounds I've been to. Lots of amenities, close to Black Hills, Custer, Wind Cave, Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial. Huge, well spaced sites, pool, hot tub, trails and more. The only downside is the price, it's more expensive than most parks.

Recently stayed 7days in the upper campground. Loved it! What a great place. Close and convenient location to many local sites including Mt Rushmore & Crazy Horse. Pool was awesome and the staff cared about our needs. Cleaning crew regularly checked on campfire ash cleaning of the pits and sweeping excess pine cones. Loved being in the middle of pine trees. Very conducive to dogs and clean bathhouse/laundry.

Great campgrounds! Lots of space between RVs. Had a nice shady site. Close to many attractions that kept us very busy the 5 days we stayed here. The campground does a pancake and sausage breakfast, so we decided to do that the morning we were leaving, so there was no clean-up to worry about. Highly recommended this awesome campground!

We stayed here two nights while visiting the area. Great campground! We had a spot in the Lower Ranch and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The lot was level, large and spacious. It came with a concrete patio with chairs , table and fire pit. We didn’t use the bath houses, but they weren’t too far away. Campground has great amenities such as a pool, hot tub, basketball court, volleyball and plenty of roads to ride your ATV or bike. What I loved most was the big open grass areas. Plenty of wide open space for kids to play or to walk your dog. Campground is minutes away from the town of Custer or Hill City. Both are neat towns with shopping and restaurants. It’s also close to Mount Rushmore, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave and Custer State Park. Great location for exploring the area.

We love Rafter J Bar! We recently had our 7th stay, and it was as great as ever. The property and sites are so far above average, it’s a no-brainer choice for where to stay in the Black Hills. Very conveniently located near Hill City, we will always return here. One of the many benefits: the great Pancake Breakfast onsite! The pancakes are delicious, and the husband-wife team are great storytellers! If you’re feeling extra hungry, it’s all you can eat! So far the record is 19…we couldn’t even finish 3, lol!
