A Cozy Winter Escape at Kingfisher Cottage We had the pleasure of staying at the Kingfisher Cottage over a particularly cold winter weekend, and it was an absolute delight. The cottage is exceptionally well-equipped—from the moment we arrived, we felt comfortable and cozy. Despite the chilly weather, we stayed warm thanks to the wood-burning fireplace, electric and gas heaters, and plenty of blankets, including electric blankets on the beds—a real treat after a day of exploring. The surrounding landscape is breathtaking. We enjoyed several trail walks through protea and fynbos-covered hills, discovering waterfalls and pools along the way. One of our favorite moments was relaxing in the hammock under the oak trees, soaking in the peaceful view over the valley. This cottage is a perfect blend of comfort and nature—ideal for a tranquil getaway. Highly recommended!

Beautiful fynbos We love staying at Rusty Gate to hike through the beautiful proteas. The cottages are excellent - well equipped and decorated.

The cottage is warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully equipped with comforts like a braai, fireplace, a dishwasher, and a dreamy hammock — the perfect spot to soak in the majestic mountains while listening to the gentle murmur of a nearby stream. An absolute haven for rest, relaxation, and reconnecting with nature.

Incredible all-round experience at Rusty Gate Had an incredible experience at Rusty Gate with colleagues, surrounded by the most beautiful and serene views. The units are so beautiful and have really good beds and bedding. The walking/running trails are amazing. The food provided was also excellent, these chefs know what they're doing!

A gem for bigger groups What a great and beautiful venue. The owners were very accommodating, the conference setup was amazing and the cottages were very comfortable. They even helped us with finding a caterer. Can't wait to go back. We did the hikes and trail runs and the views were next level.
