Moving away from my home of 50 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, to Los Angeles in this case, is a traumatic life event in itself, but having to navigate the logistics scene, managing the move, etc., after so many years on the sideline is, to say the least taunting. It was like learning to walk again; it was a different world. The industry landscape has changed, in a very, very, different way from what I remember when I moved my family in the opposite direction that many years ago. I was shocked, paralyzed, and lost, trying to find a mover from among the many links/ads on the web. How could I size up a particular company based on an ad of a few web pages? In particular, I was stunted to find no one bothered to give onsite estimates any more. The quotes were all ballpark figures. contingent upon this and that, all very nebulous and vague. Out of desperation I tried to recall the Vanline days of that many years ago. I remembered Bekins was the company that moved me North. Would they still be in business? Long story short, that's how I hooked up with AMS Bekins, and lo and behold Bekins still gives home estimates. How bad could the company be if they didn't mind investing time and labor on me, I thought. Sure enough, I was impressed, by how professional the visit was and how thorough the estimate was drawn up and the details explained - all without commitment on my part. It is my belief that most times you can learn a lot about a firm or person by observing the details. It turned out to be the case. Long story short, I needed to divide the move into two: First, to move the main furniture pieces to my condominium, and a year later, household goods and other furniture pieces to three separate locations. On the first, Bekins refunded me some money because the actual cost came out to be slightly less than the estimate. On the second, Bekins handled the various drop-offs flawlessly and with minimal inconveniences. .....

AMS Bekins moved my 2Br home to new location ~75 miles away. They were very detailed identifying everything in advance but still allowed freedom to make adjustment to add a few items if needed on day of move. Movers were friendly while quick and efficient

Our long distance move with AMS Bekins from the bay to the central valley went very smoothly. Shoutout to Jim, Kaitlin, and Jorge for coordinating a smooth move, and to Mateo and Alejandro for handling my belongings very well! Jim did a comprehensive review of my inventory through a FaceTime call and gave me a fair quote. He gave me ample time to compare quotes with other companies, and he offered to drop off free packing supplies (boxes, paper, and tape!) to my apartment since I don't have a car. He was very kind and responsive. Mateo and Alejandro were my movers, and they handled everything with care and professionalism. Overall, everyone I spoke with was kind, responsive, and very professional. Thank you so much for making my move so smooth and stress free! AMS Bekins did a terrific job from start to finish! Jim gave us a thorough digital inventory and estimate for a crosstown move from a 3-floor house with some narrow stairs to a smaller condo, where just getting to the service elevator was a long walk through the garage from the 26-foot truck on the street—plus we had a second truck taking what seemed like infinity boxes to AMS Bekins storage. Pablo and his team (including Javier and Jesus, and 3 more very pleasant, strong and skilled men) worked so hard all day, especially because they had to finish packing up what we didn’t get to, then actually move it all. My husband and I were slightly panicked when the crew arrived, but Pablo said, “we’re here to help you,” and they sure did. The team was very careful with all of our items and very courteous in communicating with us. They reassembled some super-annoying and very heavy furniture, and they also paid attention to details such as how area rugs were angled. Whenever we asked for something, the crew got it done, and they didn’t even bat an eye when we decided to add a piano to the move. Did I mention they also had to contend with both afternoon protest congestion and Saturday night pre-Super Bowl crowds and traffic control in downtown San Francisco? Thank you AMS Bekins for making our move go as smoothly as possible: we really appreciated your help and patience.

I really can’t say enough about the caring professionals that the Bekins’ people showed me during my move. We moved one giant house into a condo across the street and our beach house about 100 miles away. Pablo led his team of Luis, Evaristo, and the two Javier‘s to a perfect outcome. They did an incredibly good job. Not a scratch or blemish on anything, including some museum quality pieces where insurance doesn’t matter. Priceless and irreplaceable. From the start we were impressed. We walked the entire home first. They all came along and paid attention and asked cogent questions. It seemed like they owned the furniture instead of me and took unbelievable care of making sure it all got moved correctly. We could not have had a more relaxed move if we tried. Thank you Berlins! Kudos to the senior management team as well. Aside from having the wisdom to hire Pablo, they made sure at every step of the way we were happy.

I had a great experience moving with them. We did a cross-country move. What was amazing was the personal approach they had, instead of treating us as one other customer. Paul came to our house for inspection and he was fantastic. As the moving day approached, they stayed in constant contact which was reassuring. We made several changes through the move and they were patient with us! Moving is never easy but we felt at ease with them. And to top it all, we had a fantastic driver (John) who also dropped our stuff off (I think this is unique as others tend to hand over the driving once state lines are crossed). Everything went according to plan which helped us get going at a new place. I cannot believe I did not use them before but now I know who to call in the future!

Great job from the team. Punctual and super polite working with me. EDITED POST DELIVERY of my move in Dallas TX. I have previously reviewed my move with AMS Bekins with a 5 star rating, but upon delivery I will amend this to a one star. The pick-up was fine and performed by what I assume to be a Bekins crew out of San Francisco (CA). The delivery was done by a owner operator who hired a crew here in Dallas (TX) - she knew none of them and they appeared to be some local hands for hire. And with that my main concerns started at delivery. The crew delivering were hired by the owner operator - she did not know any of them. I had a complex move with piano and this crew had no idea how to approach this. The driver (owner) provided some guidance. The second was when I started noticing missing or broken items. The driver insisted to pay on the spot in cash with video recordings - all OK I guessed, but it turns out the issue is more complex. Bekins expect the driver to pay out of their pockets ( apparently not insurance) and then it impacts their ratings also. So now you have a double problem in that the driver wants to lock in any costs as well as limit their future earnings - assuming it is tied to their ratings. This is dishonest and frankly a disrespect to what I contracted Bekins to perform. I WILL STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGAINST USING BEKINS AMS or any of their affiliated services. On a move that costs more than $14k to then go about ducking and diving for less than $160 in total claims is a disgrace and not a company you want to move your house and what you care about.

From beginning to currently at the half way mark and storing for a month, service has been impeccable. In another month they will deliver to our new home and I’m sure it will be just as terrific!

AMS Bekins is worth it. Our foreman Cristobal was the most professional and attentive mover I have ever worked with. I’ve done international moves and moves across state. These guys were incomparable. Cristobal listens carefully and immediately informs the entire team. He easily juggles last minute changes and asks questions if he’s unclear. Other movers are polar opposite. These guys knew how to wrap items properly and moved them deftly and with precision. I’m being 100% honest because I watched everyone work. They worked non-stop for 6 hours with only one brief lunch break. Without hesitation I would use them again. Ask for Cristobal!

The entire process was easy and pleasant for my international move of a small amount of furniture. Every single person I met in person or spoke with, and particularly Val ,was very pleasant, personable, and patient. Val was super helpful, even though she is very busy. Both Val and Dylan went above and beyond. I was treated as if I were their only customer they needed to assist. They answered many questions from me, always clearly and patiently, offering additional time to speak if further questions arose. The men who came to pack my household goods and furniture, Miguel and William were very careful and competent.
