I turned 30 this year--and it felt like my world fell apart. I lost my best friends, the trust of my family, and eventually, my grip on reality. I hit psychosis. I was paranoid, scared, and lost.
One day, in desperation, I filled out a quick form online. Within minutes, Gratitude Lodge called me. The very next day, I flew out to the Chatwin House from TX. It was my first time in treatment--and I ended up spending 39 days there. I genuinely enjoyed every minute of it.
Sure, it was hard at first. Doing nothing but working on yourself is no easy task--but it was exactly what I needed. The staff made the process not just bearable, but empowering.
I want to give a huge shoutout to James, Ryan, Mario, Justin, Megan, Nate, Harrison, my boy Andrew, Eli, and Trinity. These incredible people helped me feel like me again. They gave me peace. They gave me hope. They believed in me--and that helped me believe in myself.
My therapist, Peter, helped me face and process trauma I hadn't spoken about in seven years. Therapy has never been easy for me, but Peter made it feel safe. He listened. He guided me through the hard parts.
James was always checking in, making sure I was okay and keeping my family updated. He truly was the light of the house.
Chef Mike deserves his own shoutout--always whipping up delicious meals that made the days better. Ayden brought humor and always made sure we had what we needed--especially that the places we went were safe. Their care went beyond the job. They valued our lives like their own. That's something rare and amazing.
The support here is undeniable and honestly jaw-dropping. I also want to thank Lisa, Alex, and Mike for leading phenomenal group sessions. I learned so much in those rooms.
I loved my time at Gratitude Lodge. I was genuinely sad to leave. But I left with something I didn't have when I arrived: peace, strength, and a renewed sense of hope.
