Absolutely Amazing We went with my family as tourists, but it felt like we left as trained students. It was so good. We went for an hour and the atmosphere was amazing. When we first walked in, the staff immediately greeted us warmly and helped us get into our clothes for the training. Once we got into the clothes they sat us down and explained some history of the samurai, and it wasn’t like a class, it was like it was one on one learning, and it was amazing. Then they handed us the Katanas and taught us a formation and we got to do it! I won’t spoil it all but at the end you get to watch the teachers cut through Tatami mats. 11/10, must recommend.

The “Real Deal” Samurai Experience Genuine, authentic Samurai experience with Sensei Yoshida at his dojo near Nishiki Market and major shopping district along with his able instructors Jordan and Kem. Dressed in traditional training outfit, we received technical instruction and background historical information to practice basic katana sword techniques. We were guided by instructors and Sensei in drills to ensure safe and correct methods. Instructor and Sensei demonstrated kata drills and then used actual katana sword to slice tatami omote pole. Very informative, fun and entertaining. Highly recommend if you want real samurai experience not a clown show.

Most insightful samurai experience In the beginning I was very nervous due to me having no previous experience with sword wielding or martial arts, but Yoshino-sensei and Jordan were very welcoming. Jordan gave a lot of historical info about the way of life of a samurai, and answered all my questions diligently. Since it is forbidden for tourists to wield an actual katana, the cutting of the tatami mat was only demonstrated, which was still very nice to watch. Both motivated me a lot and gave tipps on how to improve my stance and posture. Maybe I got a bit of special treatment since I attended the class all my myself. Anyhow, I definitely recommend this dojo for a more authentic samurai experience!!

Bushido! What an amazing cultural training in a real dojo. We were honored to learn from Yoshino- Sensai! Jordan was a great translator and allowed us to train with our Katanas and practice our Katu! Will come back for more instruction

Do this if you are at all interested. Real Sensei real spirit This was a great experience. If you are at all interested in a katana experience do this. It was very low key and you should not be intimidate. I’m 53 yrs old and my son is 22. We both enjoyed it. Sensei Yoshino and Jordan were great. Sensei Yoshino was very inspiring in his spirit for the art and tradition. I would do this again if I was hare again.
