We worked with ARA on the design of our home, detached garage, and guest cottage. The designs were beautiful. The island architecture review board approved our plans without hesitation. If you are considering building a coastal home, I would recommend ARA. Their understanding of local construction codes/requirements, combined with their relationships with all local builders & contractors, make them an ideal partner.

Allison Ramsey did a great job on designing out beach front home on Fripp Island. It's a one of kind beach house that is absolutely perfect in its design.

I had heard great things about Allison Ramsey and we had used one of their plans for our beach house in St. Simons. Essentially we found an exterior front that we liked, found an Allison Ramsey plan we thought might work, and Bill Harris (who came recommended by a neighbor) basically took the plan and tailored it to fit our needs. It was not an easy task with an exterior I had to have and a 3' live oak smack dab in the middle of the lot (among others) that we had to build around. It can be difficult to visualize it on paper, but it turned out much better than we expected. Not only is the exterior unique with an amazing roof line, every inch of that house is usable. The house is on a corner lot and the back can be seen from a bridge, so all elevations had to be interesting. Modern farmhouse and mission accomplished!

Cooter and team have always provided the highest quality service and plans for my project, even when changes were needed mid-stream. Cannot recommend highly enough.

My wife and I reviewed literally thousands of house plans and kept returning to Allison-Ramsey's work due to Southern appeal, openness, and elegance while possessing elements of simplicity. After making a final decision on architects we had the pleasure of working with Bill Harris, partner, at Allison-Ramsey. The choice could not have been better made. We found elements in multiple Allison-Ramsey designs that we liked but not "all in one". Bill made the process unbelievably simple to unite what we wanted into a single, final product. In addition to the final design, what really impressed us was the absence of problems in converting the architect's "paper vision" to "sticks and bricks". We experienced only one necessary design change, which was minor and solely due to a local code requirement. I probably could have appealed the inspector's decision and received approval but why fight city hall. Bill jumped right on the problem, had the issue redesigned and back within a couple days. Now that's service! Without hesitation, I can say that our experience with Allison-Ramsey as a company and Bill Harris as project lead was the most professional, efficient, pleasant and flexible of any aspect in the entire process of building our new house. I look at our home everyday and thank Allison-Ramsey for making a vision possible.

We had a great experience. We found plans on line. Selected a Palmetto Plan and made a few changes. Got a pricing set for our builder. Found that we were within budget, made a few more changes based on our contractors advice then got final price and started construction. The whole process worked well. We finished construction in a little over a year and love our new home. Working with Allison Ramsey saved us thousands of dollars in design fees and almost six months in time. Bill Harris of Allison Ramsey Architects is an excellent architect who took our likes, budget and concerns seriously as we worked through the process of developing plans for our new house and garage. We purchased one of the ARA plans and made lots of changes to create our own low country home. The invoice came in as he had estimated. Bill is knowledgeable, responsive, efficient and conscientious. He attended the review board meetings and communicated all information back to us. He had contacts that he put us in touch with when needed, he understood the architectural guidelines for our development and had a good working relationship with the review board, Our builder is happy with the plans and we broke ground last week. Our architectural fees are listed as the Approximate Project Cost below. We are excited to see the plans come to fruition, thanks Bill.

This firm is outstanding! They have the most beautiful dsesigns that aren't "McMansions"-- but instead focused on proportions and details that suit the land. We're building two of their houses currently as part of a family compund and are so throroughly impressed with our interactions with them, the finished plans, their friendliness, and by all means -- their design talents. They have a fantastic collection of photos and details online about their projects, and their house plan books are an incredible resource!

We chose a stock plan from one of the Allison Ramsey collections and worked with Bill Harris to make several modifications to suit our needs and preferences. Bill and his team were highly responsive in terms of timeliness, were thorough and accurate in their work and were a joy to work with. They took the time to understand what we were trying to achieve so that other alternatives could be explored. In the final analysis, many of the changes were cost neutral during construction and some actually reduced our costs. After being in our new home for a few months, we can safely say that we wouldn't have changed anything. I wouldn't be surprised if we felt the same way years from now.
