I didn't know if I would ever use this, but I did. My furnace stopped working on a thursday. Called right away at 7am. Dude that helped me on the phone wasn't the nicest. But KB service called me back about an hour and a half later and got someone over later that afternoon. Sean came. He was awesome. Figured out what was wrong with it. They needed to order part and told me Monday. I went and got some space heaters and waited the 3 days. On Monday kb service called me back, and said they were sending ado out. Again. He was super awesome as well and got my furnace up and running! Not sure if I should be leaving review for homesmart or kb.

While some people have had negative experiences, I’ve had nothing but great experiences with Homesmart in the 2 years i’ve been enrolled in the program. I had two instances where I had to contact Homesmart regarding my furnace. Each time, I was reached out the next day and able to get a technician out in either same day or next day. The technicians were either able to fix the issue same day or order the part needed for replacement to fix it in under a week. Definitely recommend this to protect your home applicanes

UPDATE: It has been over 3 months, but this was just resolved and they did the right thing. I received a reimbursement from Home Smart for the full amount that I paid for having a separate service come out. This was still a big hassle with several follow-ups required and slow responses, but thank you Home Smart for making this right. Terrible! I've paid into this scam for 12 years. Air conditioning stopped cooling, so called to schedule an appointment. Their next available appointment is almost 3 weeks away!!! Completely unacceptable. They say it's because they have received an influx of calls, guess what - summer happens EVERY year. I don't know anyone who has an air conditioning stop working in December. Pretty sure they can plan accordingly. They should have more than one company that they contract with for their services. I'll gladly update this review if they make it right.

When fixing broken water heater, technician broke gas line. Over a week without hot water which they admit was their fault. Supervisor got involved and made situation right by personally coming and replacing entire water heater.

KB service did the analysis and repair. Went above and beyond. Credit where credit is due, the engineer who helped me was knowledgeable and explained to me the problems. He fixed them and boiler system started up great. Initially I had another company do my yearly maintenance and recommend a new boiler! Cant beat old skool boiler engineers.

I have been using Xcel Energy HomeSmart program for over 15 years and couldn't be happier. Last week, I had no hot water. I went to work and called in for the Hot Water Heater repair. Before I even got home, the repair person had called me and explained they serviced the unit and replaced parts, and I was good to go. This was within hours of my first call! And by the way, again, NO CHARGE! Very happy with the value they provide.

I am thankful for home smart and their program. It helps me average out and budget my monthly appliance repair bills. I think over the last 6+ years, I have saved money, at the very least have broke even. They've helped replace an AC unit, dishwasher and have repaired our washing machine several times. I would never be without HomeSmart. When an appliance or the furnace breaks down, you don't want to be frantically looking for someone to repair it. With HomeSmart, all the worry is gone. We have had HomeSmart for years and find the service to be a good value. Aside from a long wait for air conditioning repair in the beginning of summer, we always get fast service. We also have the replacement helper service and they have given us money towards replacing our oven, dryer, water heater, furnace and air conditioner.

Had Todd from home smart come out to get a quote for a new system (AC and Furnace). He was fast, honest and didn't play the price game all the other companies I got quotes from did. The company they used to install the system was exceptional. They did everything right from the braising of the copper to running a new line set to setting in the AC. I would save yourself the time and energy of multiple bids, with some rookie sales guys that is going to highball you on the first bid and then come in high at their final estimate and go with Excel. Have their seasoned pro's come out. tell them what you want and they will get it done.

For the most part, I have had decent service through the HomeSmart service. However this Saturday we woke up to an AC that stopped working! With the forecast of 95 the following Monday- I wanted to get ahead of the curve and hopefully get something scheduled. I also reached out to one of my network contacts and had him come out and he determined that the motor is shot and it will need to be replaced. Meanwhile my wife called HomeSmart in the afternoon as we haven’t heard from the contractor yet. My wife WAS Told- we should hear from them on Monday!!! We don’t have an emergency!!! I thought this is a 24/7 service!!! My wife even mentioned that we have a company that can do it, but then we won’t get the $1000 refund... after over the years, we probably have spent $5000 on the plan.. Needless to say, the temp is 96 degrees outside and my thermostat currently reads 77!!! With the service coming (hopefully) tonight between 7-9pm! I can’t wait to see what they are going to charge with the extra fees to make sure the $1000 is in there....

My clothes washer stopped working and Fern came to fix it. He kept examining possible glitches while testing the systems and finally discovered the problem. Walking through Home Depot one day and was approached by a guy asking about my furnace, which I already know was on its last leg, as it was 39 years old. I said sure send a guy out, and wow that was an experience. High pressure, fast talker, lots of flip charts and confidence builders and a contract if I signed right away would save me $xxx dollars. The guy was nice, but just too slick, and the total furnace/ac was going to cost $15k all together. Then, I called HomeSmart one day when I was reminded that I actually have that service, and asked for a preventative furnace cleaning. The service tech took time to show me the issues with my furnace and said it really needed replacement very soon. I asked to have a sales person come out and a couple days later Mike M. Stopped by. Comparing his style with Mr. Home Depot, it was night vs day. He was extremely knowledgeable and explained the differences in technology and installation issues. He did not bring any flashy flip charts, just a plain piece of white paper where he wrote down comparisons between my options. He explained rebate opportunities and why Xcel offers them, different amount for different efficiency levels, and he talked about the long time relationship between HomeSmart and their subcontractor installers. Remember when one has the HomeSmart service, if a problem occurs with the new furnace, it is HomeSmart that is on the hook to service the problems, so they don’t want problems. The total price all in for furnace and ac replacement $7,500, for a better quality more efficient unit. Mike left me with options and no pressure, “the price is good for at least 60 days” so think about it. Literally the next morning my furnace went on the blink. I fixed the minor problem by watching a few YouTube videos myself, but I called Mike and said let’s get it set up, I’m now worried about the thing dying. The crew came one business day later on Monday, and the installation was flawless completed that same day. The technology is amazing and explained to me in full by the tech who installed it. I feel so good about the purchase, and quality service and installation. I wish every company had such competent employees and transparent pricing. We love HomeSmart, it’s literally paid for itself many times over in our case. We’ve never had a bad experience with any service we had done by their contractors. Dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, furnace and ac calls all in the past year or two.

Our central air went out just as the hot weather was beginning. We called a few different companies as a matter fact 3 to get estimates and when Mike from home smart came out to our house he made an Excellent impression on us. Then when we saw what the cost would be along with the our credit that we get for having the coverage on all of our appliances we had to go with home swart.On the day of the install they were out here right on time 2 guys came out. Say we're done in <3 hours a wonderful job cleaned up after themselves couldn't even tell that they were here and we got a wonderfully new thermostat on top of the deal. So they did a wonderful job I would definitely recommend this company

Have had HomeSmart for over two years. We've probably put in 4-5 service calls over this time for our dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, etc. Never had one issue with scheduling, repairs, and haven't had extra charges. Repairmen have been on-time and competent. Well worth it. 10/10 would recommend

I highly recommend having HomeSmart service! They contract with some very good companies. One of the companies they contract with is Bilder Appliance and they are fantastic!!! You never know when an appliance is going to break down and need to be repaired or replaced. In the last 6 months, I have had two different parts go out in my washer, two part in my dryer, my ice maker and a part in my dishwasher. I had the same tech named Dave replace all these parts and he is great and really knows all his appliances inside-out. In the past I have had parts go out in my furnace and my ice maker once before. I never had to pay one cent out of pocket for all of the service calls, parts or labor and that has saved me hundreds of dollars for which I am very grateful for this service protection program and I will never leave it (that’s for sure). Homesmart had me work with Bilder Appliance to complete the repair on my gas dryer. Rich was the technician sent to replace the belt that had broken. Rich was knowledgeable, respectful, friendly, and arrived promptly. Five stars all around.

Contrary to some of these reviews, i've had nothing but good, efficient service. Four visits, each one prompt, prepared, friendly, and respectful of my home. The heater (furnace) was not working properly on the very cold day of winter, called for service, they responded that is not urgent!? Used portable heaters while waiting for service. The tech came on the next day, after called request for a service again. It's fixed.

I don't get the negative reviews I see here as I have had Homesmart for several years, and often recommend it to friends and colleagues. I have had only good experiences, and find it a service worth paying for. Response time on service calls are fast and they have helped me in several situations.

I am so thankful for HomeSmart. I get repairs without having yo dish out cash, because I've paid ahead of time. I have all my appliances listed for repair. I also was able to purchase a new hot water heater a few years ago and get reimbursed. This year i purchased a new washing machine and i will be reimbursed. Yeah!!! That's what i call storing up for hard times.

My fridge was on the fritz and through HomeSmart I was able to have a technician out in no time to assess the problem and find a solution. The tech was very friendly and did a great job of explaining what the issue was. Without the HomeSmart repair plan, I would have had to pay an arm and a leg to pay for parts to fix the fridge.

Unfortunately had our AC unit go out. Thought it we could repair when I was informed we had to replace. From the initial visit Michael Moe and his team were thoughtful, thorough and professional. Shortly after the install a storm came through and effected our new unit. Once again our issue was handled quickly and efficiently. Have had homesmart for quite a few years and when I call, I have always gotten a kind person that is very helpful. They have always come out and helped and or fixed our problems. I do have to replace our clothes washer, it cannot be repaired. I have replacement and have purchased one, I am hopeful that our return will come quickly, as our service has. I have never had a problem with any of our customer reps, or repairmen. I am so happy that I have this wonderful service.

I don't really have a big problem with the coverage, but the customer service is hit and miss. One time you will get a representative that isn't too bad and the next one snotty and rude. How much effort does it take to treat a customer like they should be treated. Sometime they sound like they can't get you of the phone quick enough. Today, I had a pretty good experience. Not sure I have ever had one that went out of their way to be cheerful.

I have older appliances, including my furnace and air conditioner so I find Home Smart a good choice for my situation. It has more than paid for itself in repair costs over the past couple years. I know at some point I will need to replace some items, but my furnace and AC are both 26 years old and the Home Smart technician told me they are still in good shape. Only minor repairs have been necessary since I signed up with Home Smart. The customer service and service technicians are very professional and good at what they do. Having Home Smart has saved me a lot of money.

Never really had to use them, but they were there if I needed them. I had some difficulty trying to cancel service because I moved out of the property. While trying to resolve it, I was contacted by a combative customer service representative, who did not even entertain examining my experience. Upon followup with Xcel, I was contacted by a supervisor, who was fantastic, and resolved my frustrations to my satisfaction.
