Gas-fed ancient boiler stopped working. No clue why.
Other than the ancient part.
Recent transplant from the mid-Atlantic so my boiler experience is null, but I still did a little shooting, and couldn’t get the pilot light lit. Not wanting to blow up the house troubleshooting further, I called Nicholson, because 1) they’re local, 2) I can almost hit their shop with a rock from my house, and 3) I see their trucks all over. So figured they’d have a better chance than most to have an available tech sooner than later.
Plus - their owner graduated from Keefe just up the road, and my partner’s kid just got accepted there.
But I digress.
I was right about an available tech. Jarek came out right away. He put a quick fix in place, cleaned the burners, lit the pilot light, and got the boiler up and running. In addition, he generated an estimate for a more permanent fix and set up a consult to provide a complete replacement. Before he left, he took a look at one of my radiator heaters. He was driving away in less than 30 minutes.
Jarek was great and accommodating. Charged me the minimum.
It’s only one service call, but that’s a pretty ideal service call. I’ll be doing more work with them, and of course things will only get more complicated, but so far so good…
