We met with a sales representative from Great American Home Exteriors in Elmhurst to receive quotes on several projects. The salesperson was very kind, professional, and patient with all of our questions, and we genuinely felt comfortable moving forward based on that interaction. We ultimately decided to proceed with a kitchen window installation. Our initial appointment took place on Saturday, December 13. At that time, we were told that a foreman would contact us at the beginning of the following week to schedule measurements. We also put down a $1,000 deposit, which was more than the required 20%, in good faith. Unfortunately, after that appointment, communication completely stopped. The following week we heard nothing. The week after that, we called again, still nothing. We have called the office multiple times without receiving a response. We also reached out to the sales representative via text; he kindly said he would follow up for us, but no one ever contacted us. At this point, with no calls, no emails, no scheduling, and no explanation, it has become very concerning that our $1,000 deposit was taken without any indication of when the project will move forward. This is especially disappointing given the presentation we were shown emphasizing customer satisfaction, transparency, reliability, and the company’s BBB A+ rating. We were truly excited to work with this company and trusted what was promised to us. We are simply asking for immediate contact to clarify the status of our project or to discuss a refund if the work cannot proceed. We hope this can be resolved quickly and professionally. UPDATE: Since posting this review, the owner, Sam, has personally reached out and taken full responsibility for what occurred. Sam and the entire team have worked extremely hard to make this right and to restore our confidence in the process. Communication has been consistent, transparent, and proactive, and we have been kept informed every step of the way. We truly appreciate the effort, professionalism, and accountability shown. Sam has guaranteed us 100% satisfaction and has gone above and beyond, even offering additional incentives should we decide to move forward with more projects once this work is completed. We are confident things are now moving in the right direction. When the project is fully completed, I will update this review again and fully expect to revise it to a 5-star review based on how this resolution continues.

What sold me was the lifetime warranty of the windows and up to 3 replacement windows for each window. The price was also better than the competitors. We used Gramex to install James Hardie siding on an upper rear section of our brick home. From our initial meeting with the salesperson, Joe D, my wife and I were very impressed with Gramex. We had a number of quotes from other installers, but Joe's educating us on the installation process of James Hardie products, and Gramex's flexibility in agreeing to our contract requests was key to our going with them. We got our door installed, and the baywindows work. The work was done on time, but after it was installed, we had some small repairs still to be done. After meeting with several exterior contractors we decided to go with GRAMEX. We wanted a company that could do everything that we wanted done: roof, gutters, gutter guards, fascia, soffits, James Hardie siding, stone and a new front door. It was a big project and GRAMEX was up to the challenge! We worked closely with GRAMEX staff during the planning process. They provided us with several addresses of homes that they had worked on so we could see them in person. For us, this was extremely helpful. We also were able to see the materials that they would be using at their showroom in Elmhurst. This allowed us to compare and contrast the various options. Due to the scope of the project, installation was a lengthy process. Spring weather also contributed to a couple of delays. GRAMEX. did their best to complete the work in a timely manner. Throughout this project we had the opportunity to work with a group of dedicated professionals, from the owner, Sam to the vice president, Langston to our sales rep, Rob to our project manager, James. It was clear that their priority was that we would be fully satisfied with all the work at the end of the project. The many installers that we got to meet were also experts in their individual fields, taking the necessary time to do each phase of the project carefully and correctly. A plus of GRAMEX is that they hire all their own workers and don’t use sub-contractors. At the end of each day, the workers would clean up our property and store their equipment and materials. This allowed us access to our garage every evening. Now that the project is done, my wife and I couldn’t be more pleased. We love how our house looks and we have received many compliments from neighbors and family members. We fully and without reservation recommend GRAMEX! They are totally worth the time and money!

I absolutely love my new dining room window. Installation was clean quiet and professional. I had to ask if there was a screen because it is nearly invisible. Such a clear view to my backyard. Great working with their team. Very knowledgable about historic construction restoration. Also very patient with all my questions and concerns. My 100 year old historic home now has better than new structural framing inside my 34" wide soffits. My house has unseen built in, hidden gutters. The old wood was crumbling from decades of gutter leaks. The new Douglas fir bead boards are historically accurate and were installed perfectly. My wood fascia was beautifully wrapped in aluminum that maintains the exact profile of the original painted wood sections. This was a big project spanning 140 linear ft. They also added wooden louver vents above each window. Soon to add the final coat of paint and caulking to finish it off for the next 100 years! The only fault I'll give us that they didn't handle the demolition mess to my satisfaction. But I gladly recommend them.

Great American Exteriors rebuilt our backyard deck, doing a better job than the original installation. They made suggestions on materials that would last longer and need less upkeep, and upgraded the structural support. The project was completed early, on budget, and we are delighted with the results. The bid was very competitive, and all of the Gramex staff were professional and easy to deal with. We will be happy to use them again for any future construction projects.

The project was done in one day. The workers pulled out my pavers, cleaned them, put them aside, took out the old sand, put in new sand, reinstalled the pavers and pressure wash them. They look like new. I'm happy with the results.

I’ve hired Great American Exteriors for four projects over the years: new garage construction, roof replacement, car pad rebuild, and full house re-siding. Some of these were major efforts. The fact that I keep going back to them says a lot about my experience. Two things stand out, and they are most important. First: They always deliver to the original estimate. They never play the game of suddenly “discovering” complications mid-project. Their contract cost is gospel. Second: the quality of their finished product is exceptional. The work they did on my aging house (built 1950) has given it a new life. As we close the last project, I’m already talking with them about the next. I’m not taking chances with anyone else.

Plus they were patient with timing as foundational work needed to be completed first. Only negative feedback was confirmation when they would be showing up. But overall experience was far too great to impact their score. Think a bit more old school sales tactics to paper and pencil estimates. Already have an estimate for future work! Great American Exteriors helped us refresh our tired, 55-year old home in several ways. First, they removed an overgrown brick courtyard and replaced it with beautiful, poured and stamped concrete. Now it’s usable and much lower maintenance. Also, they repaired and wrapped our exterior soffits and beams with aluminum, preserving the aesthetic and extending the life of the home. Last, they stained our brick, which truly refreshed the tired look of the house, and provided a natural-looking finish. It’s not painted; so there is still a beautiful variation noticeable between the brick colors. And they delivered on budget and on the exact timeline they promised. Lastly, there are a few punch-list items that remain; I have full faith they will deliver with the same quality and helpful attitude they’ve provided us so far. We are very happy with our choice of partners for this huge (for us) project!

Great American Exteriors have just finished replacing all the windows in our 23 year old end unit condo. They worked with my budget and allowed me to replace the windows in stages. Sam and Jason and the installers were very good at their jobs and when installing the windows always worked to completion and cleaned up inside and out. My husband and I are very pleased with the end result.

We LOVE our new doors and we got great pricing by signing the day the sales person came in. We had been shopping around for years with competitors and they gave us the best quality for the price. I loved the ability to give them the exact plant color for the doors so it matches our newly painted exterior. The men who installed the doors were very friendly, clean and good with my dog.

Absolutely fantastic work. I couldn't be happier with the end result. Everyone I worked with from sales, to the office, to the installers were extremely helpful, courteous, and professional. I would recommend them to anyone and hope to work with them in the future.

We hired Great American Exteriors to remove our existing driveway and replace it with a new concrete driveway. The entire experience was top notch from beginning to end, from working with Sam and Jason, as well as the concrete crew on the project. They even went above and beyond to replace some trim on our garage that was damaged from the previous driveway at no charge. They took off our beige vinyl siding and installed Deep Ocean Hardie Board. What a transformation of our home! Our neighbors can't believe it either. Great American sided our Chimney in multi tonal faux stone and it looks amazing! The whole process was easy and smooth. LOVE our new patio! We worked with John from GRAMEX to redo our deck and add pool stairs with a new landing. He was awesome to work with and gave us great ideas on what to do with the deck and made the process so simple. Our new concrete patio is amazing and makes the backyard look better and we have more useable space now. The pool stairs and landing are so much sturdier and better than before. It looks like an entirely new space and is so well done. The crew was great and so easy to work with as well. We look forward to working with John and his crew again soon!

Good salesman - John. Was quoted time frame and they kept it, even in the midst of Covid supply chain issues. Installers were professional and really good guys. They did the work in a day or two and cleaned up and left the place like they weren’t even here. And the windows are great. Really keeps the cold and noise out. Happy customer.

One was a front entry door installation and the other was window replacements. Sam, Justin and Team at GRAMEX were fantastic to work with and we love the window install that they performed on our home. We had a complex job with the installation of 42 new windows on a 100 year old home and they handled everything in a professional manner. There were several snags along the way due to supply chain issues, but the team was forthright and kept us in the loop the entire time. We are very happy with the final product, which included both casements and double hung windows, and will be working with them again should we need anything done to the exterior of our property.
