Wonderful day out Thank you Gareth for a great day that surpassed expectations! I have visited Chester many times, but Gareth’s tour made me realise how little I knew about the city. The staff at the food stops were so welcoming and informative too, it really was a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Just one recommendation- don’t eat before you go (or wear elasticated pants!)

Best Walking Food Tour Experience! I took a few of my clients out on Gareth's Food Tour after having heard the reviews from my colleagues. The tour was absolutely brilliant and worth every penny! Gareth made sure we all were looked after and that we enjoyed every aspect of the tour. On top of the lovely food and drink we had the pleasure of trying, Gareth gave us insights into the history of the places we visited. We tried food and drink from Lunya, Madre, Bar Glue, Hey Farina and BoBo. Gareth introduced us to staff/management at each restaurant who were warm and hospitable. I personally would highly recommend Gareth's tour to anyone who is looking to explore Liverpool's rich and exciting restaurants and bars!

We visited outstanding venues that I didn't know existed, with warm and friendly welcomes and stunning food and drinks. Gareth's knowledge of Chester's culinary delights and history was exceptional. Highly highly recommend this food tour and Gareth, thank you for a great afternoon!

Fantastic walking food tour! A fantastic walking food tour! I have never done one of these and was so impressed with the flow of the afternoon. A great way to learn new things about my home city of Liverpool and to sample some of the amazing local independent restaurants and drinking establishments. A great way to network as gives lots to talk about and shared experiences of the day but also would be a brilliant alternative to just going out for a meal with a group of friends. Each venue was brought to life by our tour guide Gareth who is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Further we received an introduction from a member of the team at each location visited and this really gave it a personal touch. The food and drink was excellent and perfectly curated for our tour. I really felt personal connection to each location as a result. I look forward to my next food tour and to visiting all of the the places we went to again and letting others know about them.

Perfect food, beautiful town, expert guide I have done the Chester and Liverpool Food Tours, both were fabulous, so I had high expectations of the Shrewsbury Tour, especially since I didn’t know Shrewsbury at all. These high expectations were exceeded! From start to finish, Gareth led us expertly though the beautiful town, pointing out fascinating Architecture and tiny alleyways, with interesting and relevant snippets of history between the expertly-chosen food stops. I won’t comment on every one, just to say the food in all was delicious, with informative talks by the proprietors. It’s hard to choose a favourite, but Tanners Wine Merchants possibly wins because of the highly expert talk, the amazing building and the wine tasting in a lovely courtyard afterwards. But learning about Ice Cream making, and actually making a waffle cone, in Gelatistry was superb too… and Pierogi in The Shed… and…. all of them!! I loved the whole day, thank you Gareth!

Excellent food and walking tour We had the most amazing food and walking tour guided by Gareth. He took us to fabulous food outlets which we all agreed were faultless. Gareth was fun and informative and easy to engage with. He kept the tour running smoothly and on time and you never felt rushed. Great information about Chester easy and informative. All the food places i would visit again to sample more of their food as they were all so good. Would definitely recommend. We will try another of his tours in a different area. Many thanks

A most interesting and informative trip about the history of Liverpool Our guide Paul took my group on an amazing trip through some of the history of Liverpool.. Obviously there is far too much history of Liverpool for us to get any more than a taster in two hours but our guide Paul certainly did his best to tell us some parts of Liverpool history and show some places that even Liverpool folk, born and bred, didn’t know about previously. We started on Old Hall street where we learned something of the birth of Liverpool including the fact that it did not feature in the Doomesday Book of 1086. Of course all of us are aware of the part the triangular trade of cotton, slaves and manufactured goods played in the immense development of wealth in Liverpool. However, we were also very interested to learn quite how supportive Liverpool was of the Confederacy during the American Civil War to the extent that there were more Confederate flags in Liverpool then than in the state capital of Alabama. We saw buildings and plaques relating to this. With the immense maritime industry there was a proliferation of banks and insurance companies and Paul showed us many grand buildings with fine details built for these purposes. After looking at and hearing about the Three Graces and other buildings in the vicinity we made our way up to the Town Hall and Exchange Square for more interesting facts before a drink and very good Italian meal at Hey Farina in Williamson Square. All in all a most interesting and informative trip

Highly recommended personally tailored walking tour. Gareth organised a personal tour for for friends travelling to Chester together. It was a wonderful experience, we visited to lovely food outlets, both very different in nature and we also went to a beer. Specialist with some fascinating and interesting beers. The tour was really well organised and tailored to our needs with some really interesting facts about Chester along the way. I would highly recommend this.

Extremely enjoyable afternoon in Shrewsbury! Attended the food walking tour with clients through work and what a brilliant afternoon it was. An excellent variety of different places to visit, eat and drink and as I'd never been to the centre of Shrewsbury the tour definitely gave me a good insight to the heritage. The tour guide was excellent too, informative, jovial and engaging.

Chester Food Tour From the booking process to the experience, we were well informed and nothing felt like too much trouble. We booked this as it was our wedding anniversary and Gareth not only got us a card but at our last restaurant they added happy anniversary to the plate. It’s the little things! All of the food we tasted was delicious and in places that we would never have discovered on our own as a tourist to Chester. I’ve also developed an unhealthy interest in mead, who knew it was so delicious?! All of the places visited were also extremely friendly and welcoming which also made this tour a must do. In fact, it has made me think that whenever I go to a new city, a food tour is the way to explore it. In addition to where we visited, Gareth also gave great recommendations for other places to eat and drink for the next day. All in all, this food tour was a great find from the trip adviser reviews and if you find mine, just book it!

Brilliant way to spend an afternoon What a brilliant way to spend an afternoon! Gareth guided us around Chester City, taking us to places we’ve never been to before, despite visiting then city regularly. Each venue provided tasty food with knowledgeable talks from either the venue owner or Gareth. I couldn’t choose which one was my favourite as they were all superb. I could see this tour being a great team building event or a fun afternoon with friends.

Highly recommended! Really enjoyed this, I hadn’t been to any of the places on the tour before despite being fairly local! Madre was a particular favourite & the Bridewell pub has an interesting history. Our guide Trev was brilliant, knew a lot about Liverpool & we learnt a few other interesting facts too! Great way to sample food/drink from different places that you might not be aware of already.

Super fun foodie tour! We were in port on a cruise and did this tour. It was, hands down, one of the best walking foodie tours we have done any place! The tour had the right amount and variety of tastings, combined with the history of the area and even a street art tour! Gareth is friendly, pays attention to the pace of the guests - the tour was so much fun! You will taste lots of yummy food so show up hungry!

Fantastic experience This is the first time that we have done a food tour. We thought it would be a great addition to my husbands 40th Birthday celebrations. Gareth was an excellent host. It was such a good way to see different parts of the town and get an insight into some of the history. The venues picked were excellent, giving a unique insight into the both the food/drink and business. We will definitely do this again. Chester is next! Kathryn and Gareth
