Good place to buy clothes

Amazing products, but they can't just rely on being the only store with Paul Harnden in nyc. Harnden might be the only person I can think of more pretentious than the sales people in this store... I was about to spend 2k+ but the attitude of the staff sent me right out the door. I can buy guidi's elsewhere, thank you. Also being followed by the security guard (I believe, because i was dressed a bit scantly that day)was fun. Even my friend who works in high-end fashion retail and understands these retailers have an allure of exclusivity to keep was not impressed by the attitude of the sales people.

I love this store, the clothes are amazing and so unique.

Amazing store, beautiful lines like Comme des Garcons, Casey Casey, Boboutic, Paul Harnden and many more. The store is so beautiful, like a museum and is a real bit of Soho history. Mizuno is wonderful...go see her!

Avant garde. Paul Harnden and Skelton. Two of my favorites. I went to this boutique with a friend today and was amazed by the selection of the boutique. The staff members were great, knew the fashion scene, and it was incredible to finally talk to people who appreciate the same designers I do. The selection is great. They've been around a long time. Prices are what you expect. Great store.

IF SOHO is a must-visit if you're into artisanal fashion! Rodolfo was incredibly friendly and passionate about the pieces IF carried (my favourite makers and brands like m.a+, Elena Dawson, Yohji, and John Alexander Skelton). He was excited to show me a bunch of new m.a+ pieces to try on that were not on the sales floor yet. Thank you Rodolfo for your hospitality and for making the visit to the shop an amazing experience!

I was recommended this store by friends, but am very disappointed with my experience. No one greeted me as I walked in, I almost thought there was no one inside. Three minutes later as I’m browsing, another person walks in and is welcomed warmly by staff. I’m the type of person that likes to walk through the entire store to get an idea of what I would like to try on. There was a staff member straightening the clothes I was looking at as soon as I touched them, almost following me, making me nervous. Still no greeting whatsoever, just eyeing me even though I smiled quickly at them. Despite this, I still wanted to try on. That same salesperson helped me into a dressing room. They were not personable at all! Not trying to talk to me about the piece, despite me attempting to make conversation. Other people were being helped around me, but it seemed like they all were regulars. As I was deciding if I should buy, the lady who was supposed to be assisting me was already helping another customer who had walked in and got greeted with familiarity. Throughout my entire shopping experience, I felt like I was intruding on a closed group. Felt very clique-y to me, and felt like my money was not wanted. I was so put off, I walked a few blocks away to the Yohji store where I spent my money and got a better experience despite not being dressed to the nines that day. My advice as someone who used to work luxury retail, treat everyone who walks through your store equally!

Incredible selection of hard-to-find brands. They are the only stockists in the US for a number of brands, and carry quite a lot of inventory for them too. Paul Harnden, Skelton, Nosapluna, the list goes on. But they also carry brands like Rick Owens, so there is a wide variety of what you can find here. But beyond that, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable about the brands they stock, and very attentive to customers. You couldn’t ask for better service or better staff. Definitely the best boutique to go to in NYC

Si capisce che chi fa ricerca è un professionista con grande competenza ed il negozio è molto bello.

Train your salespeople to not give the glare and judgy attitude I experienced yesterday. How do you know who can and can’t afford to shop at this store? Huge store, completely empty on a weekday in the early afternoon. You should be happy people are stopping in. Ick.

I went to this boutique with a friend today and was amazed by the selection of the boutique. The staff members were wonderful and it was incredible to finally talk to people who appreciate the same designers I do. The staff memebers were so informative and helped me find a less expensive piece to beign my collection of a favorite designer of mine. I can’t thank them enough for putting up with my indecisiveness and I can’t wait to return. -Edward Hernaez

You can choose clothes in this store, but don't buy clothes here. The price of the clothes you buy here is usually twice as expensive as on ssense and farfatch, I bought a shirt yesterday for 800 dollars and then searched for this shirt on ssense this shirt final sale was only 330 dollars. I went to the store today and tried to get a refund and they said you can only exchange, not refund. So I used store credit to exchange for another shirt which was worth 900$ but only 390$ on ssense.I don't want to go to the store again and waste my time.You can try on what you like in the store and buy the same shirt online.You can even save the tax. The clerks are very nice but the prices are outrageous

Friendly staff. Great selection of brands

I had a terrible experience at IF SOHO, specifically with one of the staff members who was wearing a plaid cap. His service was extremely unfriendly and disrespectful towards me. When I was browsing through the racks, he approached me and said, 'If you're just looking for inspiration, please don't mess up with the rest of the rack.' His condescending tone and attitude made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable in the store. As a customer, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, but unfortunately, this staff member failed to meet those basic standards. I would not recommend this store to anyone, especially if they want to avoid dealing with such unfriendly and unprofessional staff members.

Some very cool silhouettes - a shame they only offer up to a size 12 max. It’s 2023!

I love this boutique. It's an NYC classic. The clothes are well-curated and they carry some very small ateliers that you can't find anywhere else, with one of a kind pieces. Prices are very high, but they do have real sales when the seasons change and basement sales a couple of times a year. So depending on your definition, you can actually find good deals here from time to time. I've never had an issue with the staff. They have always been helpful. NYC doesn't offer an overtly cheerful vibe in most places, but I've never felt put off by employees here either. Also, the owner is an Asian woman, so an earlier reviewer's assertion that they discriminate against Asians strikes me as unlikely, FWIW.

Favorite store in NYC

Pretentious for literally no reason. It’s not like they have so many exclusives in their store. You can go to a million other boutiques and find these items. Customer service is probably the most disgusting thing about the store. In the current day where we’re all one click away from luxury & Beautiful designer goods customer service is a key reason why I would shop somewhere. The representatives don’t reach you when you walk in the store, they look at you strange. I’ve given this place more than one opportunity. So disappointing.

My new favorite clothing store in NYC! A great selection of avant-garde clothing. If you like your junyas, yohjis, isseys, ricks and more, this is the place! What's even better is the 15/10 customer service. The employees were very friendly, attentive and thoughtful. They would be checking up on me while I was browsing, offering help. Whilst I was trying on the pieces, they were giving me ideas on how to wear certain pieces differently. They would also recommend other pieces that I didn't select to try on. Lastly, I felt very welcomed and was very comfortable trying on as many pieces I would like. The store did not give me any judgmental glares and were happy to let me try on these amazing pieces before deciding which to buy. You can't get them all! (Visited on 4/12/2022. Got 4 wonderful pieces. May even return before I leave) Would also recommend Henrik Vibskov Boutique. But please please do not go to Atelier on 8th St, horrible people and environment.

I purchased a coat over the phone and received a damaged product; looked like either someone stepped on it and ripped the bottom or even somehow was cut. The store gave me two options: one was $200 off the price which honestly compared to what I paid was pocket change considering the irreversible damage done to the coat. Second option was to return it, which is what I did. I did try to work out a deal where I kept the coat, but I needed a far more significant discount, but apparently, they claim they will be able to sell a damaged product for well over $1k. Okay then. Staff throughout the interactions over the phone and e-mail were friendly. Initially they said they could not refund me my shipping for receiving it or sending it back, but after posting this and emailing them my dissatisfaction, they ended up refunding me the money I paid for shipping. Updated score to reflect.

Original. Unique. Curating. Everything I hope for in a boutique. Favorite high end shopping downtown, Soho. Great variety. I usually start LES boutiques like Assembly, Pilgrim on Orchard, and Reformation, and The Frankie Shop!. If I still am shipping I had here and look for sales!!!! It's over my budget here except sales items. But it's fun window shopping

Beautiful clothes and selection. However, I can't imagine being a minimum wage worker who tries to gateekeep and mock potential clients while wearing borrowed Paul Harnden. Keep your interaction with staff to a minimum, and your visit will be pleasant.

Maybe New York’s last remaining destination for an authoritative curation of avant guard designer apparel. The visual merchandising and vibe are underwhelming. It’s really just a bunch of racks of beautiful clothes and unfriendly people.

‼️The employee of IF SOHO swore at Chinese customers and pushed us out. We understand that some stores do not allow videos or photos in store. But they should just notify customers before we get into the store. They could not insult customers. If we were white people, they would not treat us like this. And I’ve seen many posts from their customers. A lot of people took videos and pictures in their store. Perhaps they only discriminate against Asians/Chinese. It is a well-known store in New York. And what they’ve done is gross.

I recently visited the IF fashion store in Soho New York as I've always wanted to go there given the sort of Avant Garde fashion brands they stock. I am also a subscriber to their online website but whilst I was visiting New York for the 1st time since (2010) for world pride event with my partner from the UK London I visited some of the well known sites and landmarks as well as doing some fashion shopping. I also wanted to visit the IF store as I found the store Just by chance through fashion social networking sites and have been following them for the last three & half year so whilst I was in New York I decided to visit the Soho store and was immediately given the impression that the boutique was not very welcoming at all, it was almost as if they weir doing me some sort of a favour just to enter the premises. I found that The staff to be quite intimidating watching and scrutinizing my every moves, giving the impression perhaps I was not to be trusted. and maybe the sooner I left the better. I soon left not that long after. I had gone into the store with the intention maybe of perhaps purchasing an item and I would've liked to have said what excellent customer service it was and what a nice store. but What a shame. This is not a one off, as 3 years ago my partner had also had the same feelings and experience when visited the new york store and he quickly departed without making a purchase. I have traveled the world and always seek out high end fashion stores in which to shop in and have always made to feel welcome. To the delight of their staff and myself, purchases were made. I also work within retail perfumery in the UK and as far as store I work within their slogan is that no matter what walk of life you may come from as soon as you enter their store the customer is king as at the end of the day it is those customers who pays your wage. IF is such a beautiful store and space and also stocks some of the most beautiful Avant Garde brands like Uma Wang and many many others but they just need to brush up on their mannerism and their customer service skills on how they meet and greet the general public when entering their boutique. I would recommend the store to friends but at the same time I would advise them to just be aware of staff when entering the store!

A den of absurdly expensive, absurdly luxurious urban minimalism, for both men and women. Somewhat obscure brands like Takahiro Miyashita the Soloist and Ann Demeulemeester are book-ended by pieces from Comme des Garcons and Junya Watanabe (he became mainstream fairly quickly, huh?). If you're the sort of person who occasionally spends rent level money on clothes, you'd be hard pressed to find a better collection of cutting edge cloth.

eclectic and different. Nice selection. I give you four stars baby! I come here for the mix and the unusual selection of the different.

Knew this place since they were located on W Broadway. Always with eclectic selections, Music is great too.
