Old World delivered a beautiful product on time exactly as promised. Great company to do business with! The attention to detail is world class.

Bought a 36” Hood and was a little intimidated about doing it myself but after lots of research and watching their instructional video I felt confident I could install it. The people at OWStoneworks were great too, answering any questions I had. It came in a crate well packaged with no broken pieces. In my application I put two 2x12’s stacked together in the wall and mounted the hood to these. The 1/2” all thread might not be perfectly straight coming out of the corbel’s and side headers so you will need to make the holes bigger to help get everything level. This is ok bc you can fill the void with 5 min epoxy after fastening to the wall. I got a three pack of real long big drill bits of various sizes at harbor freight which worked out well. I also had to put a rat tail file on the end of drill to ream out the holes a little more to get the stone pieces level. This was the hardest part of the project but easy done with some patience and care. You will need to be careful taking the stone pieces on and off when test fitting bc you can chip the edges if not careful. When fastening the pieces together I used steel brackets at menards and plastic wall anchors in the stone which worked out great. Just make sure you use the correct screws for the right size plastic anchor. If you use too big a screw you could crack the stone. Make sure you see how the header will fit the side pieces before installation. I gave myself some wiggle room so when I got it up I could move it to get it where I wanted it. It took four men to hold the header up in place while I fastened it to the side pieces with steel brackets and plastic anchors. Also when done putting together make sure you fill all the gaps from the back with Bondoglass or construction adhesive so that when you grout the grout has something to go against. Take care when using bondoglass you don’t want to get this anywhere where it will be seen. Make sure it’s not on your hands when handling the stone pieces. Fill the gap between the wall and stone also or you will have a hard time getting the grout to stay put. Overall I think any DIYer can do this project with great results and love the outcome. It is the highlight of our kitchen and very happy and proud that I was able to do this.

OWS estimator was very professional from the initial pricing inquiry thru approval shop drawings. The shipping was on time and well packaged and crated to insure shipping without breakage. Old world stone works offers a great product that is relatively easy to install . It looks and appears to be solid granite . It is in fact a very intelligent solution to provide a product that for all insensitive purposes has the look and feel of a product costing three times the price.

Old World did a good job helping us find a mantel from their catalog that fit the style of our living room, and our budget. I asked our builder how the installation process went, and he said that it was very easy and straightforward, and also made a point to mention that he was impressed with the delivery of the mantel. We get good comments from friends about how nice the fireplace looks.
